TLS and Your Payment Gateway
Posted by John Schoenberg on May 10 2017 10:59

As you may be aware, new PCI DSS requirements state that all payment systems must disable early TLS by 2018. Transport Layer Security (TLS), is a technology used to encrypt sensitive information sent via the Internet. TLS is the replacement for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

Question: I received an email from my payment gateway about TLS. Will I be affected by this?

Answer: If you host with Web 2 Market then you have nothing to worry about. We have TLS 1.2 enabled on all of our servers.

Question: The email also mentioned the 3DES cipher will be retired. Should I be concerned?

Answer: You should not be concerned about your payment gateway retiring the 3DES cipher in the future. This will have no effect on your store.
